THE NEW BARKER 63 www.TheNewBarker.com Toast of the Town Photography by Agata Fowler In March, Donte’s Den Animal Sanctuary hosted its 13th Annual Top Dog fundraising event at dog-friendly The Toasted Yolk Café in Sarasota. The theme was Toast of the Town to celebrate the lives of all of the dogs who have found a safe haven at Donte’s Den over the years. A deli- cious buffet brunch was served, complete with a Bellini and Bloody Mary bar, and Banana Splits for dessert. Emceed by ABC7’s Chief Meteorologist Bob Harrigan, the grand finale and crowd favorite was the Top Dog Contest. Prizes were given to the Best Kiss, Best Costume and Best Owner Look-alike. Then, the three winners vied for the honor of Top Dog and Top Dog trophy. The sold-out event was a resounding success, thanks to the supporters like Stanley Steemer. They sponsored the creative Gift Card Puppy Pull which helped Donte’s Den meet the event’s fundraising goals.
