22 THE NEW BARKER
Some of the most meaningful moments with Georgia
happen in the smallest, quietest ways. I notice it when
I bring her out into the world with me, how she
moves calmly through new spaces, how easily she
trusts strangers, and how gently people respond to her.
Watching her interact with others fills me with a quiet
kind of joy and reminds me how much comfort and
warmth a small presence can bring. She is such a burst
of joy, and our bond is truly growing into something
special. Knowing that I always have her waiting for me
at home makes even the longest days feel shorter.
Every morning, Georgia waits patiently for me to
take her out of her crate before rushing up her little
doxie stairs to the bed, nudging her way into the
sheets beside me. It’s a simple ritual, but one I’ve come
to cherish. My days now begin more slowly and
intentionally, shaped by her needs and our shared rou-
tines, morning walks, breakfast, and cuddles that
ground us both. These moments have become the
steady rhythm of my days.
Georgia has taught me how to be present and
notice the beauty in small things. Before winter
began, I once caught her gazing quietly at the sky as
geese migrated south. I stood beside her, watching the
birds soar, feeling a sense of calm settle over me. It was
peaceful, and in that moment, I realized how much
nature has to offer when we take the time to observe
it. Georgia has a way of inviting me into stillness.
She has also brought a sense of grounding into
my life that I didn’t know I was missing. Before
Georgia, I experienced anxiety for a long period of
time. Now, she helps regulate me, bringing me back to
my senses and into the present moment. Her routines
keep us both busy in a gentle, comforting way, helping
me feel less anxious and more aware of the world
around me.
I’m deeply grateful for Georgia. Because of her, I
go on more walks, enjoy holidays more fully, and look
ahead to the years to come with excitement. Life feels
brighter, richer, and more meaningful with her by my
side. She reminds me daily to slow down, embrace
routine, and find joy in the quiet moments that make
dog mom life so special.
