      About a year ago, Natalie noticed plastic shavings in the 
plastic slow feeder she used for her dog. That’s when she 
began designing and creating her line of ceramic slow feed-
er bowls for pets. Plastic is porous material and harbors 
more bacteria, especially as it wears with scratches over time 
and becomes brittle. The smooth glaze on ceramic is suit-
able to prevent bacteria buildup.  
      “I wish more health conscious dog parents knew that 
switching from plastic to ceramic slow feed bowls would 
cure their dog’s chin acne and improve their overall health,” 
said Natalie. 
      Her favorite part of the pottery process is always 
unloading the glaze kiln. “It feels like Christmas morning, 
every single time,” she said. “Even after 11 years of doing 
pottery.” She loves using some of the brighter pinks and yel-
lows to create her semi-pastel color palette. “It feels bright 
and cheery.” 
      Natalie knew she was onto something big. Many of her 
clients are now repeat customers, wanting more slow feeder 
bowls for their pets and friends with pets. Each bowl is spe-
cial ordered, and since they are one-of-a-kind ceramics, the 
process takes time. Every single piece goes through multiple 
stages including throwing (creations), trimming, drying 
(may take up to two weeks), first kiln firing, glazing, final 
kiln firing, packing and shipping. All of the ceramics Natalie 
creates are microwave, dishwasher, food, and oven safe.  
      “How lucky am I to have the privilege of making plas-
tic-free, non-toxic ceramic slow feeder bowls for dogs that 
also look beautiful in any home,” Natalie added.
