56 THE NEW BARKER
And She’s Kilning It
A free kiln was Natalie Crenwelge’s lucky find, enabling her to
keep creating after graduating high school, where she first fell in
love with ceramics. Natalie founded NEC Designs Ceramics on
sustainability and ethical making. “Handmade objects do more than
serve a function,” Natalie said. “They create connection, invite
mindfulness, and turn the ordinary into something meaningful.”
Each piece is made to last a lifetime. Art to be used every day,
because art should be part of every day life, Natalie said.
“Handmade pieces elevate simple moments, turning morning
coffee or evening tea into a ritual worth savoring,” said Natalie.
“Each mug, bowl, and plate I make is designed to combine func-
tionality and beauty.”
